JOB DESCRIPTION:
Interested in a fun and exciting camp nurse position for 2 -
4 weeks? Have a kid who wants to go to snowboard/ski/skate/bmx camp?
We have a position for you!!!!!
COMPANY: Windell,s Snowboard Camp
POSITION: Nurse
LENGTH OF APPOINTMENT: Varies ( June - August )
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Must be a licensed physician
or registered nurse in the state of Oregon
- Contribute to creating
a safe, happy, positive, unbiased program and cabin
environment for all campers
- Assist Director with training
of EE,s with regards to their authority and
responsibility to provide health and emergency care
- Maintain and inventory
all first aid kits on site, in vehicles and on the
snow . On last day of each session the on snow facilities director,
activities personnel, and aquatics personnel, will bring their
kits to you.
- Vehicle kits will be brought
to you as well
Greet campers on the first day of camp to:
- Establish a relationship
with campers
- Check for observable evidence
of illness, or communicable disease
- Review, verify and update
health and history form
- Collection of medications
- Note any special needs
- Prepare a list of medication
and allergy needs for the appropriate coaches,
kitchen staff, counselors, and activities personnel
- Rise in the morning with
campers to tend to campers, needs, blisters,
sunburns, meds., etc.
- Escort campers to breakfast,
and then to the buses fully equipped for a day
on the mountain
- After campers have returned
from the mountain, be on call to care for
bumps, bruises, sore muscles and sunburns. Also on-call for
emergencies
- Answer the emergency cell
phone and be on site from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 a.m
the next morning all days of the session. (This includes the
morning counselor meeting)
- Oversee the general well
being of campers and employees during summer camp sessions
- Monitor overall sanitation
of camp including camper and staff living areas,
dining hall and kitchen, garbage and waste disposal areas In
the evenings visit each cabin to assess the well being of campers
- Be sure to follow up on
any injuries everyday of the session morning and night
- All injuries need to be
discussed with parents. They know their kids best.
- Meet with the director
and the office manager regularly to review status of
injured or ill campers, your courses of action, documentation,
parent contacts, etc.
- Camper medication management
- Maintain a health log
for employees and campers, citing significant events, problems,
health issues and your responses
- Individual camper files
should have notes about injury and actions taken on
the inside flap of the folder. Description of incident, date,
and initials
should be noted
- Contact campers, parents
in cases of injury or illness
- Accident reports will
be given to you on all injuries by Sandy or the Auxiliary driver
- All injuries will be reviewed
by the owner and director Ultimate responsibility for the completed
accident/incident report and
parent contact
- Live on the camp site
in the nurses quarters
- You are responsible for
discipline and over night supervision of your children
- Establish a working relationship
with the local physician and update Standing Orders
- Prepare the in-between
session counselors to deal with campers in need of special care
or meds. prior to departure day
- On departure day, wake
up with campers helping them to prepare for travel, pack meds.,
tend to needs ,etc.
- For a full day train the
nurse that will be working after you leave
- Scheduled days and Time
Off
- Be prepared! The camp
provides 24 hour supervision to minors/service to adults and
requires that every person be on call around the clock.
- You will work very hard
in a resident camp environment, but the experience is very rewarding.
- Your time off begins after
the kids depart on the last day of the session.
- The day in-between each
session is your full day of rest.
