JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Citadel Summer Camp
Camp Nurse Position Description
NURSE SALARY PER WEEK: approximately $500 a week, + Room and Board
HOURS: 30 hours of leave per 6 day week with all Wednesdays off(Can work one
or both sessions: June 7 to July 3; July 7 to July 31).
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The camp nurse works closely with the staff to
assure that the camp is a clean, healthful and safe environment.
SPECIFIC DUTIES: (Include but not limited to)
1. Act as liaison between The Citadel Infirmary and The Citadel Summer Camp
2. Review medical forms for special need.
3. Examine campers and staff upon arrival in camp.
4. Confer with parents as to special problems.
5. Collect medications and set-up schedule for dispensing of them.
6. Maintain medical log, complete forms for each illness/injury.
7. Attend staff meetings and notify staff of health problems and concerns.
8. Confer with infirmary daily and assist in making decisions on campers, participation in activities.
9. Prepare and maintain first aid kits for various on-site locations and off campus trips.
10. Maintain barracks first aid center and order/request from infirmary all necessary supplies.
11. Inventory supplies at end of season
12. Establish and maintain working relationship with local doctors and hospital.
13. Work with Director on recognition of cleanliness in camp and recommendations for changes.
14. Supervise carrying out the Standing Orders as approval by physician.
15. At end of season review with administrator all Incident/Accident Reports to identify ways
to prevent and reduce incidents, accidents and injuries.
16. These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned
and other duties assigned as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Registered nurse.
2. Licensed in the State of South Carolina.
3. Good health.
4. Must enjoy working with children.
5. Previous camp nursing desired, but not required.
