Job Description

We’re looking for a Camp Nurse who can provide expert health care with a smile! Being a Camp Nurse is a refreshing opportunity to care for healthy young people in a friendly, fun outdoor setting. Camp Nurse candidates should be comfortable in the outdoors, be flexible and fun, and enjoy working with children. We’re seeking a Camp Nurse either for the entire nine-week season, or two people to work for half the summer each. This is an ideal position for a school nurse.

Responsibilities: dispensing camper meds, providing first aid for minor injuries, record keeping, and communicating with parents, camp leadership and local health care providers.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: At least 21 years of age; RN degree with pediatric experience; certified or eligible to be certified in the state of Wisconsin; confident nursing skills and strong assessment abilities; excellent bedside manner, friendly and personable; valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

Physical Aspects of the Job:
Ability to lift/assist campers and staff.
Ability to read and follow directions on medication labels, health forms, physician orders, and parent letters.
Ability to use a computer to maintain written record system.
Ability to quickly get to remote locations on camp property over uneven terrain.
Observe and assess sanitation and safety conditions of the camp.
Ability to communicate with parents, staff, and administration about camper health concerns.
Possess endurance to meet emergency needs.
Ability to drive to off-camp health provider, physician, or emergency treatment locations.
