We are located on Huntington Lake, California in the Sierra National Forest 45 miles south, as the crow flies, of Yosemite Valley. The nearest major city (and hospital) is Fresno about 1.5 hours away. San Francisco and Los Angeles are about 5 hours away. Huntington Lake is at 7000 feet and covered in snow in the winter. This clear alpine lake is known for the High Sierra Regatta – an annual sailing race. Otherwise, this amazing place is a relatively unknown gem. Our address is 60900 LaSalle Ave, Lakeshore, CA 93634. You may see it listed as Camp LaSalle which was the name of the previous program. The town of Lakeshore is charming and tiny. It is comprised of a post office, general store, and restaurant on one block. Other than a small gas station and fire department station the rest of the area is privately owned cabins and public camp grounds with a couple places to rent boats. Think Lake Tahoe in the 40s and 50s. The town below Lakeshore is Shaver Lake which is quite a bit larger than Huntington but still a small town with a nice collection of restaurants and general stores. Most traffic stops there since it’s a shorter drive (we’re 30 minutes past) and there are many places to rent ski boats (only sail boats and pontoons can be rented on Huntington Lake). The road past Huntington Lake stops at Mono Hot Springs which is about one hour away through a small windy road up and over the 10,000 foot Kaiser Pass.
