Job Description
URJ Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute (OSRUI) is an overnight summer camp located on the beautiful shores of Lake Lac La Belle in Oconomowoc, WI. We have opportunities to join our amazing Camp Care Team, which focuses on the mental and social emotional health of our campers and staff. The Camp Care team’s goal is to ensure each camper and staff has the tools and support they need to be successful at camp. Opportunities available for 2, 3, and 4 weeks, or more, from mid June to mid August 2022.
 
OSRUI, just two hours from Chicago and less than one hour from Milwaukee and Madison, serves over 1,000 campers, age 7-17 as well as a staff of over 200+ people over the course of the summer. Camp Care staff live at camp, and lodging and all meals are provided, in addition to a weekly salary, childcare for young children, and access to camp facilities.

 
Job Requirements
Responsibilities:
• Support the unit heads and counselors in their work with campers. This includes discipline problems, moments of sadness, interpersonal issues, and adjusting to the camp environment.
• Work with campers who have been identified by special needs committee along with their counselors and unit head to proactively manage issues and create a positive camp environment for all campers.
• Work with other campers as needed, and as issues arise.
• Be present in camper units daily, including staff meetings, to support unit heads and staff.
• Advise program areas and specialists on how to accommodate individual camper needs in different activities.
• Participate in the process of parent phone calls and emails for camper care related issues.
• Participate in the documentation of camper care issues, parent communications and camper interactions that take place during the summer.
• Serve as a positive role model for staff.

Qualifications:
• Sufficient knowledge on social, behavioral and developmental issues with children
• Be understanding to camper and staff needs
• Strong communication skills with campers, staff and parents
• Creative problem-solving skills, flexibility and adaptability
• Social work/Psychology/School Counseling or equivalent experience preferred
