Job Description
Texas Elks Camp is seeking a registered nurse to work at our summer camp. Nurses should be passionate about working with special needs children ages 7 to 21. Experience working in a summer camp environment is preferred, but not required. Camp nurses will dispense medications, provide first aid and assist camp counselors in their work with children and adolescents who have intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities and foster care children. Patience, love of working with kids and the energy and ability to work with counselors and campers in a group setting are a must.

Regular duties include:
  • Med passes three or four times per day
  • Ensuring safety of campers while at camp and on outings
  • Assisting campers with eating, bathing and toileting as needed
  • Walking/running in the heat of the day
  • Packing and preparing necessary medical equipment and medications for camp outings

​Summer nursing job starts June 5, 2022 and ends July 29, 2022. The first week will be training week, there will be seven week-long summer camp sessions beginning June 12, 2022. Campers arrive every Sunday and leave every Friday. Nurses have Friday evening and Saturday off, and must return to camp by 10:00 each Sunday.
 
Camp nurse pay is $1,400 per week. Meals and housing are provided during training week and during weekly camp sessions. Nurses must live on site during training week and during camp sessions.

If necessary, nurses may be hired on a rotating basis for the summer program, we must have an RN, onsite each week. All staff will receive CPI, CPR and first aid training. We prefer to have the same staff for the entire summer program, but if you cannot work for the entire summer program please indicate the weeks you can be available.
Job Requirements
This is an alcohol and drug free environment. All employees must consent to a background check and be free of any warrants, felonies or criminal charges. Adults age 18 and over are eligible for employment.
