Job Description

Dates: June 12th - August 13th Goal: To provide campers and staff with professional health care in the summer in a friendly, caring environment. ROOM AND BOARD PROVIDED, TRAVEL EXPENSES AND LICENSE REINBURSED. Benefits: Competitive Salary and excellent working conditions Private room in our fully equipped Health Center Full time Doctor in Residence Join a team of 6 Nurses, 1 Student Nurse and 1 Athletic trainer Flexible work schedule allowing use of camp facility Beautiful Berkshires location on Lake Onota Staff children welcome as campers Berkshire Medical Center is just 3 miles away Enjoy the camp activities and events Responsibilities: Help Manage team of Nurses Assisting the on-call doctor with examination of patients Organization and distribution of daily meds Sharing shift in health center Updating charts, med logs and files Triage and treating campers who come to the health center Communication with parents on an as needed basis Communicate with camp Directors on any health issues of campers & staff Accompany sick/injured campers or staff to the hospital or medical appointments On-call during the night on a rotating basis Qualifications & Requirements Registered Nurse (with pediatric experience) Flexible – able to adapt to different environments and schedules Confidence in Nursing skills Responsible, Hard working Great bedside manner – friendly and personable Strong assessment abilities Desire and ability to be a team player Enjoy an active lifestyle Willingness to obtain a Massachusetts license (Winadu will reimburse) ER and/or Pediatric unit experience preferred Answers to Frequently asked Questions: -We assist you in arranging for you Massachusetts license -You operate under standing orders -There is a full time Doctor -There are 6 nurses, a nursing student and an athletic trainer -There are established health care procedures and protocols

Job Requirements

RN or LPN degree (or nursing student-to assist in Health Center) Flexible — able to adapt to different environments and schedules Confidence in nursing skills Responsible, hard-working Good bedside manner, friendly and personable Strong assessment abilities Prior experience with children (does not have to be in a medical capacity) Enjoy an active lifestyle Team player Willing to obtain appropriate state licensure (camp will reimburse) ER and/or pediatric unit experience preferred, but not required New nursing graduates and nurses with families are welcome LIVING ACCOMMODATIONS Accommodations attached to Health Center or in separate staff housing Private or semi-private room Shared bathroom (share only with other nursing staff) Meals provided in camp dining hall WORK SCHEDULE Our camp makes an effort to create shifts to fit the needs of the nursing staff, in addition to the overall needs of the camp. Our Health Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your work schedule will be a variation of the following: 8-1/2 to 10-hour shift which may be broken up during the day one day off per week on call every 4 or 5 nights
