Job Description

Are you ready to combine your nursing expertise with the joy of summer camp? Thunderbird for Boys and Thunderbird for Girls are brother/sister residential camps that operate separately with a spirit of cooperation. Our community includes staff and campers from 32 states and 12 countries worldwide. Our youngest campers are eight, and our oldest staff, well, you must ask them!

As our camp nurse, you will provide compassionate care, foster well-being, and enjoy the unique opportunity to be part of a close-knit community. This role is perfect for someone who values connection, embraces adventure, and finds fulfillment in helping others thrive. Step into a role that nourishes the soul. Thunderbird is truly a second home to both campers and staff.

Each camp hires two nurses (RN and/or Grad) to work in our healthcare centers. The nurses live in comfortable accommodations either in the health centers or nearby. They are integral members of our community and are welcome to join in on all the camp fun!!

Your days will be filled with campers' laughter (and some tears), tranquil moments surrounded by nature, and a workflow that feels busy while receiving support from directors. We have about 160 campers and 100 staff at each of our camps.

*Full Season and Half Season Positions Available*

Competitive compensation includes: salary based on experience, travel stipend, temporary nursing license, and room and board. Willing to discuss camp-age children attending camp sessions.

Salary per week: $1500 for experienced RN, $1300.00 for Grad Nurse.

Job Requirements

Nurses' duties include providing daily medical services, distributing medications, maintaining charting/record-keeping, packing and supplying first aid kits, managing the health center and anyone ill, communicating with parents, and conferring with camp directors and doctors on individual and community health issues. We provide a lot of TLC to campers and staff who are far away from their families. If a camper or staff needs to be seen by a medical professional in our local town, a nurse typically accompanies them.
