The Health Center Assistant works under the supervision of licensed Camp Nurses and the Operations Director, supporting all aspects of camp healthcare delivery. Responsibilities include assisting with daily medication distribution, basic first aid, camper assessments, and medical documentation. This role offers valuable real-world experience in pediatric and community health — ideal for students pursuing nursing, pre-med, emergency medicine, or allied health fields.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Health Support
●Assist camp nurses in providing routine and emergency medical care to campers andstaff.
●Perform basic first aid, wound care, and health assessments under supervision.
●Support medication administration rounds and help monitor adherence anddocumentation.
●Maintain accurate and confidential medical records using camp health systems.
●Assist with daily health checks, triage, and health-related communications.
Camper & Staff Care
●Provide compassionate, child-friendly care to campers with minor illnesses or injuries.
●Monitor resting campers in the Health Center and ensure comfort and emotional support.
●Encourage hydration, hygiene, and health awareness among campers and staff.
●Support wellness initiatives and help educate campers on self-care and safety practices.
Operational & Administrative Support
●Help maintain inventory of medications, first aid supplies, and medical equipment.
●Ensure Health Center facilities remain organized, sanitary, and compliant with safetystandards.
●Assist with medical record-keeping, form collection, and parent communication asdirected.
●Participate in staff meetings, health briefings, and emergency response drills.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
●Respond promptly and calmly to on-site injuries or medical situations.
●Work collaboratively with the Health Center team and local emergency services whenneeded.
●Follow established camp protocols for incident reporting and follow-up care.
