Camp Akeela is an overnight summer camp in Vermont for campers ages 9 - 17. Our campers are Neurodivergent and often describe themselves as "quirky." All are very bright, charming and well-behaved children/teens who struggle to connect with their peers. Akeela’s small, supportive community helps campers improve their social skills, make friends, gain self-confidence and have fun! Who should apply to Camp Akeela? We are looking for student nurse to join our outstanding health care team. Our RNs are dedicated to pediatric nursing and are wonderful supervisors and care-takers who love teaching our student nurses. The nursing staff is an integral part of the camp community. We work with a company that pre-doses and packages all of our campers' medications, giving our nurses more time to enjoy camp. We encourage them to be out in camp as much as possible, fostering strong relationships with campers and staff. Our Health Team members act as medical advisors, emergency managers, medication distributors, "camp moms", friends, counselors and role models. It's an important and extremely rewarding position. Camp Akeela’s directors Debbie (PsyD in Clinical Psychology, Yeshiva University) and Eric Sasson (MEd, Harvard University), along with a key staff of experienced professionals, are at camp to mentor and support the entire staff.
