Job Description
Camp Nurses are responsible for all health related care of campers and staff at our five camps. Duties include: medication distribution; health education teaching and maintenance; emergency care; referrals to camp doctor; nursing care of campers and staff requiring short-term bed rest; communication of pertinent medical information to The Fresh Air Fund office and parents; and maintaining medical records and logs. Camp Nurses are the primary medical staff in camp and report directly to the Camp Director and Senior Camp Nurse. There is a doctor on site/on call at all times that works closely with our Senior Camp Nurse. Hospitals and urgent care facilities are nearby. Nurses are provided with private rooms at their assigned camp and eat meals in the camp dining hall. Each nurse is encouraged to participate in the general camp program as much as possible. All nurses will take part in an orientation and will receive trainings during employment.
Job Requirements
Must be a licensed RN or LPN preferably with at least one year of post-graduate experience • Must have or be able to obtain a New York State license. We will pay for the necessary fees to obtain a license if an applicant does not have one. • Must be professional, flexible, caring, enjoy working with children and be able to work in a structured residential setting Start date: June 18. While we prefer nurses to work the full camp season, we can consider half season employment. Please contact camping@freshair.org with any questions about availability.
