The Resident Camp Nurse will reside on Frost Valley premises. The nurse will administer medications, provide basic first aid, maintain appropriate records and respond to emergencies among campers and staff at Frost Valley YMCA. All services provided will be in accordance with the policies and procedures set forth by Frost Valley YMCA, the NY State Office of Professions, the NY State Department of Health and the American Camp Association.
- Administer medications in a timely and safe manner, demonstrating practical knowledge of pharmacology
- Accurately document and care given per Frost Valley YMCA policies and procedures, ensure documentation is filed property and maintain confidentiality of all medical records
- Provide basic and emergency healthcare to guests and staff in compliance with physician orders and Frost Valley policies and procedures
- Respond to calls coming in to the Wellness Center by radio and phone
- Serve as LPN/RN on call overnight when schools are on property
- Ensure the Wellness Center and other medical venues are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion
- Facilitate smooth transition of care to outside medical providers, as well as provide follow up as needed
- Work in collaboration with other medical disciplines, Wellness Center Staff and other departments to ensure safety, wellbeing and positive health outcomes for guests and staff
- Communicatte special health needs to appropriate staff
- Assist with the Director of Nursing Services with keeping track of inventory supplies
- Provide competent, age specific and culturally sensitive care while maintaining standards of professional practice
- Interpret and enforce all camp policies, rules and regulations
- Facilitate staff and guest awareness of unsafe or at risk behaviors and conditions
- Participate in emergency drills and trainings
- Implement emergency procedures and safety protocols for the organization
- Practice within standards et forth by the New York State Office of Professions, New York State Department of Health and American Campers Association
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing Services
