7/2Camp Krem is a residential summer camp in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains of Northern California, serving children, teens and adults with a wide range of developmental disabilities.
We are seeking two RN's for our summer season. Our season runs from May 18 - August 21 and ideally we are looking for someone to work the entire summer, but are open to having someone work for a shorter duration -- a few sessions, a month etc.
Private accommodations and all meals provided.
Work alongside a great Health Center team -- another RN, plus 3-4 Nurse Assistants, as well as with the rest of our fantastic summer staff! You will have an unforgettable summer and make a real difference in the lives of our incredible campers!
Essential Job Functions:
1. Distribute camper medications
a. Follow related policies & procedure outlines in Healthcare Manual and document on computer-based medication administration record.
2. Provide necessary health care to meet individual needs of camp staff and campers
a. Follow health care and treatment policies/procedures as described in Healthcare Manual
b. Assess camper and staff medical situations and make informed treatment recommendations, including in-camp care and referrals to off-site care/treatment
3. Organize and maintain adequate resources for serving the health and medical needs of campers and staff
a. Assist with set up of Camp Health Center for the season
b. Inventory and order all necessary medical supplies and equipment
4. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records according to state requirements and American Camp Association Standards
a. Ensure staff and camper health examinations are current and on file
b. Prepare and utilize daily medical log for treatment and medications
c. Prepare and record insurance and accident report forms
5. Oversee First Aid procedures and supplies
a. Prepare and distribute first aid kits throughout camp, including camp vehicles, kitchen, offices, pool, activity areas, for off-site trips
b. Ensure supplies are well stocked and distributed as needed
6. Deliver a staff orientation training session on medical services
a. Ensure camp staff and campers know their role related to health care and first aid
b. Provide or ensure orientation is provided that includes standing orders, specific camper health and social needs, health center procedures, emergency procedures, staff health assessment of campers, accident prevention and risk management, nutrition, and first aid in the camp setting
7. Screen all campers and staff who are arriving and departing camp
a. Verify health history and examination
b. Verify emergency authorization
c. Identify any observable evidence of illness/communicable diseases
d. Conduct a health assessment
e. Keep all camper and staff medications securely stored and locked
8. Supervise sanitary conditions throughout camp
a. Observe daily cleanliness in food service facility and other areas throughout camp
b. Be alert to any health concerns among campers and staff
