Camp Somerset is a premier residential summer camp in Smithfield, Maine, for girls ages 7-15. Having only opened in 2018, Somerset boasts one of the newest and most modern facilities in camping, and is a warm, welcoming, inclusive, and spirited community. Smithfield is located in central Maine, along East Pond, in the picturesque Belgrade Lakes region of Maine.
We are seeking licensed RNs for the summer of 2026 who will collaborate to oversee the health and well-being of the community, evaluate medical needs, respond to any medical emergencies, and distribute medications. Our Health Center team consists of eight RNs, a nurse aide, and an on-site MD.
Our population is comprised of very healthy children, although they may occasionally feel unwell. Camp nurses provide first aid care for campers and staff, oversee the administration of medications to campers and staff, interface with the camp doctor, and coordinate visits to a physician when needed, monitor health and cleanliness standards, organize paperwork, and maintain all electronic medical logs and records. Working closely with the Camp Director, the camp nurses help provide and monitor adequate physical health conditions at the camp, promoting a culture of physical and emotional health and wellness throughout the camp.
Campers or staff with serious ailments/injuries are transported to the local hospital or urgent care, all within 15 minutes of camp.
The 2026 summer will include approximately 375 campers and 220 staff members.
